Wine and Popular Diets – The Chardonnay Diet

I suggest that you take this article on the Chardonnay diet less seriously than our other articles on popular wine diets. As always, don't go on a diet without getting a checkup and the go ahead from a qualified medical practitioner. Do you really think that you can lose a lot of weight in a short period of time? Do you really think that you should lose a lot of weight in a short period of time even if you can? However, if you are only looking at losing a few pounds you might consider this seemingly painless, five-day diet. As with any diet, unless you change your eating habits, you will soon put on the weight that you lost. One last recommendation before getting into the details, don't overdo your consumption of Chardonnay wine. You'll be drinking a lot so don't drive and don't drink too fast. If you get sick, lose your cool, or lose your control, STOP.

The Chardonnay diet originated in the United Kingdom and has become quite popular in Germany. On day one of this diet drink at least two pots of tea in the morning. Continue drinking tea until you are very hungry. Your goal might be a three o'clock lunch, which should be chicken or a salad. About six o'clock begin to drink some Chardonnay wine. When you can't drink any more (the maximum is one bottle) go to bed. Repeat this procedure for two more days. It is claimed that you can lose about two pounds a day; by the end of day three you should be six pounds lighter.

The fourth day of this diet involves a change of pace. Start with tea in the morning but skip lunch. Around six o'clock eat a healthy, generous dinner and don't worry if you put back on a pound. It's very important to reload your body with vitamins and nutrients after three days of light eating. On the fifth day you fast until six o'clock when you bring out the bottle of Chardonnay. If I were to undertake this diet (I seem to be allergic to tea so I wouldn't) believe me I would not drink a full bottle of wine after fasting all day. Make sure that you eat properly and drink the wine slowly.

After this five-day diet be careful what you eat. Stay away from high-fat foods and keep your meal sizes to a minimum. This lets your body adjust to your new weight and helps you maintain it. I'll chime in with my wine consumption recommendation, a maximum of two glasses a day.

I'll finish this article by quoting some calorie and carb statistics. A three-ounce glass of Chardonnay (or for that matter Pinot Grigio) has 60 calories and 1.2 grams of carbs. The same glass of Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot red wine contains as many calories but twice the carbs. A 12-ounce glass of light beer has almost twice the calories and five times the carbs. Is that why I never heard of a Cabernet Sauvignon or a beer diet?

Liposuction – Why Tumescent Liposuction is Your Best Choice

Tumescent liposuction is your best bet if you wish to get rid of fat from your body by surgical means. Before the tumescent technique became extremely popular in hospitals and clinics alike, the older method involved a great deal of blood loss on account of the large incisions that were required for the operation to take place.

There was also the concern over an adverse reaction to the anesthesia with the older method and the risk of infection was also much greater.

Another disadvantage of the older style of operation was that the patient suffered more discomfort following the liposuction and took longer to heal. In fact the recuperation and recovery period was weeks long and the patient was not permitted to work or engage in regular activities during this period of time.

Due to the newer and more modern form of surgery, many of these concerns have been laid to rest. The tumescent method requires that only one or two small incisions are made at the site to be operated on. This makes for a safer procedure. The cannulas used today are smaller than ever.

They are micro-cannulas and are much less invasive than their older counterparts. They are also more effective when it comes to contouring and precision because they are a metered and targeted treatment that controls the amount of fat removed from the surgical area.

Tumescent liposuction has plenty of advantages over the traditional form of liposuction. First of all, the amount of blood loss during the surgery is much less which makes for a safer operation. The same can be said for the amount of fluid loss. The less the body loses, the safer it is overall.

Local anesthesia is used for the tumescent procedure as opposed to general anesthesia. This means that the patient is conscious but drowsy. Not having to put a patient completely under is safer and reduces many potential complications. This also means that the concern over nausea and vomiting following the procedure is minimized as is the potential of other side effects. This is very good news for the patient!

Intravenous fluid replacement is not necessary for this procedure which is important to note. The use of the micro-cannula means that both bruising and swelling are lessened. This also means that there is less pain following the liposuction surgery.

Smaller incisions mean that the chance of scarring is less in comparison to the traditional form of liposuction. One other reason that the newer type of surgery is superior to the older is because the need to have a secondary procedure is decreased and in most cases, completely unnecessary.

Raw Food Diet

Many fad diets out there claim to be the fastest way to lose large amounts of weight in very little time. They often involve completely removing certain types of foods from your diet such as carbohydrates or limiting your diet to something such as cabbage. Few of them actually give you lasting results or the vitamins, nutrients and minerals your body needs to function healthily. The raw food diet however is much healthier and can be sustainable for a long period of time. Most raw food diets consist of mainly fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds and sprouts which are a very common part of a raw food diet. The diet is not quite as restrictive as others however, it all just depends on your goals.

If your goal is to lose a lot of weight quickly, then you will want to limit your diet to as many raw foods as possible. Many raw fruits and vegetables hold fat burning qualities that will help you to shed the pounds fast. If you are aiming to detoxify your body then you will want to limit your diet to just raw foods. But if you just want to live a healthier lifestyle, you do not need to be so strict about eating just raw foods. You will still want to add as much raw food as possible to your diet, but you can still treat yourself to some of your favorites and not feel too bad. For the purposes of this however, we will assume that you are in one of the first 2 groups and want to really make some changes in your body and health.

One of the first keys to being successful on a raw food diet is to do some research and find some recipes and meals that you would really enjoy. You want to cater the menu to you and your lifestyle. For instance if you do not have much time in the morning, you will need a quick breakfast, perhaps something like a fruit smoothie. If you are not a fan of raw cabbage or sprouts, find a way to jazz up the flavors so that it is something that you do not mind eating. Once you have created a menu that is suitable to you, you will be ready to go shopping and buy the things that you need to begin your raw food diet. From here on out, it will be up to you and your will power to stick to the diet. You can do it.

The key to a successful raw food diet is to prepare yourself both with what you will be eating and how you will be preparing it as well as removing any foods that may tempt you from view. My personal recommendation would be to purchase a book on the topic or see if you can find some professional advice online before starting a raw food diet. It is important to know as much as possible so that you know what you are getting into. Above all, have fun and enjoy the experience of trying something new, feeling healthier and losing some pounds.

Pre and Post Liposuction Surgery

The cosmetic benefit of liposuction is the potential to remove large amounts of fat in a brief period of time. For women, thighs and abdomen are the most popular areas for this procedure. For men, the abdomen and flanks are the most popular areas. The average amount of weight removed from these areas is ten pounds.

Liposuction has been refined to ensure it is painless and effective. The plastic surgeon, during this procedure, could remove the appropriate amount of fat without causing any disturbance to neighboring tissues or causing a change in the fluid balance of the patient. And, the plastic surgeon will attempt to cause the least amount of pain or discomfort possible to the patient.

Pre and Post Surgery

There is a certain protocol for the safety of the patient, which should be followed before the surgery is performed and during recovery. While preparing to undergo the procedure, smoking should be avoided at least two months prior.

In certain cases, especially if an anesthesia or sedation is being received, fasting would be necessary prior to the surgery. Requirements to be a good candidate, that are urged by plastic surgeon, include being over 18, being in good health, and having tried diet and exercise but still retain an excess of ten pounds.

After the procedure is complete, the patient will be prescribed medication to prevent swelling in the affected areas. Drinking large amounts of water is recommended to prevent dehydration.

Patients should also avoid using heating pads or ice packs in the affected areas. A study published in Dermatologic Surgery 2004, further underlined the safety of the procedure, by stating that the minor complication rate was only .57% and the major complication rate, which includes hospitalization, was the minute rate of .14%.

The Variety of Choices Available

When the modern liposuction method was first introduced in 1982 by the French surgeon Dr. Yves-Gerard Illouz, it became popular due to the low morbidity rate and reproducible methods. Progress has been rapid since the introduction of this safe surgical method.

Today, there are many different types of liposuction possible: dry, wet, super-wet, tumescent and laser- assisted. Each type is defined by the technique used. For example, in laser-assisted liposuction, laser waves are used to rupture fat cells.

Advancement gives patients a choice in terms of the surgery that is best for them.

In particular situation, however, liposuction is not the only surgery a patient would need to achieve the desired look. If the problem is both excess fat and loose skin, surgeons recommend both liposuction and skin tightening treatments such as, the abdominoplasty tummy tuck.

The importance of physical appearance in modern society continues to make cosmetic surgery popular. In 2006 alone, liposuction was the most common treatment performed according to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) cautions patients to ask their doctor about the training they have before making the final decision.
